Environmental and conservation concerns have long been at the soul of Latino civil rights in the United States, and have an important role in the broader social justice movements. As evidenced recently by the new Nuestro Rio collaboration to save the Colorado River, Latino's have a deep cultural as well as practical connection to natural resources and the basic human rights of access to energy, clean water, food, and a livable environment.
Camino PR has an expertise in promoting conservation themes, as well as creating a more accurate and contextualized public conversation about environmental concerns. For example, hormones in the water supply is a growing and important concern. However, while many pundits place the blame on women taking oral contraceptives or pregnant women as contributors of estrogen in the water supply, the real contributors of troubling levels of estrogen in the water supply are industry giants such as agricultural corporations. Our role is connecting with audiences about their genuine concerns, while fostering a more accurate discussion about real solutions in the media.
We do our best to promote a healthy environment in our own office setting. This year we joined the urban gardening movement and planted a garden on our office deck. We are now enjoying fresh tomatoes, cilantro, basil, thyme, and rosemary.
